Can dangerous goods cargo travel in a Flexitank?

Flexitanks are not suitable to accommodate hazardous liquids as this could compromise the integrity of the cargo. Flexitanks can be used to transport non-hazardous cargo such as wine, edible oils, oil and lubricants, detergents and concentrates (e.g. apple/orange). We offer a fleet of ISO tanks as useful alternatives for your hazardous cargo.

What is a freight forwarder?

Freight forwarding is a service used by companies that deal in international or multi-national import and export. While the freight forwarder doesn’t actually move the freight itself, it acts as an intermediary between the client and various transportation services. Sending products from one international destination to another can involve a multitude of carriers, requirements and legalities. A freight forwarding service handles the considerable logistics of this task for the client, relieving what would otherwise be a formidable burden.

What is the difference between LCL and FCL?

Full Container Load (FCL) is a container shipping option where a container is exclusively used for a single shipment and the container is not shared with other cargo shipments, and the costs are borne by one party. Even if the container isn’t enough completely filled to the brim with cargo, the shipping party can choose to still opt for it.

Less than Container Load (LCL) is usually chosen when the there aren’t enough goods to fill up and entire container. Various cargo shipments share the same container as well as the container shipping costs.

How many wine bottles can fit in a pallet? And how many pallets in a full container?

As rule of thumb, we assume 12 bottles of wine fit into a case, and 56 cases of wine fit on a pallet equating to 662 bottles per pallet. Moving forward, a 20ft container can accommodate 10 standard size pallets on the base, and pending the height, these can be double-stacked, giving a total of 20 pallets.

A 40ft container can accommodate 20 standard size pallets on the base, and pending the height, these can be double-stacked, giving a total of 40 pallets.

What does “CBM” stand for and how to calculate it correctly?

In LCL cargo, CBM (Cubic meter) is used to measure the volumetric weight of your cargo. LCL ocean freight is applied either per metric ton (W) or cubic meter (M), whichever is greater and is usually charged with a Minimum of 1 CBM / 1000Kgs or part thereof. Feel free to use our Sea Freight Calculator for an easy conversion! If you have over-dimensioned cargo or cargo that cannot be double-stacked (meaning that nothing can be placed on top), please consult us as this might attract additional charges which we’d be happy to investigate further for you.
